Madness. This was utter madness, he was sure of it. But madness or no, he was here.

Here in the worst place possible, somewhere he never thought he'd end up, but doing something he had to try, for the sake of everyone.

He had to try and talk to Regina. There was so much at stake, with the constant fighting, that he had to take the risk. Deep down, he doubted that he would be able to do much to get through to her, but if he didn't try, he end up regretting it for the rest of... well, however long they lived.

Flying up to her castle, he pushed down the stab of fear he felt. Regina was not to be trifled with, and he knew she wouldn't like his words. But still he flew up to an open window. The advantage of being a cricket meant that he could sneak past her guards. The feel of magic all around him made his teeth itch - or it would if he had any.

He'd struck lucky. Regina was alone in the third room he checked, and he hovered uncertainly for a moment, trying to work out the best way to approach her without getting swatted.

Personality:

There is a certain duality to Archie’s personality that has had a major effect on his life. His experiences shaping his young life as human Jiminy, then his life as the cricket, the Voice of Conscience, and how the two merge into one to form Archie’s personality.

Archie can come across as shy and retiring, though most of the time it is because he is merely happy to observe, to take in all that is happening, and be ready with the right words, which he can find easily most of the time. However, this nature where he holds back can have a tendency to be easily manipulate, something Regina took advantage of easily for example when the treatment of Henry was not progressing fast enough, or when it was made to look like Emma stole Henry’s file. She was able to force him into whatever she wanted, even going against what he knew was right. His parents managed it when he was Jiminy, making them stay with him against his wishes simply by alluding to what could happen to them if he left.

His innate sense of good is what kept him there. Doing what is right, to the best of his ability is ultimately always what Archie is about and no matter what, it is what he will defer back to where he can, even if it means finding every tiny bit of courage he has to stand up to your enemy.

He has an incredibly protective nature. Helping to bring up boys, giving them a stable, caring environment is what he always tried to do, firstly out of guilt for what he had done to Geppetto’s parents, then with Pinocchio, and later on with Henry, becoming a part of who he was - a father figure without actually having children off his own.

The guilt he has for the death of Geppetto's parents will always haunt him. He feels like he will never fully atone for what he's done, no matter how hard he tries. That guilt is mostly what drives his desire to be the best person he can be, and to do his best in every situation. To this day Gepetto is the only person who can truly make Jiminy do anything, as we see in The Stranger when mentioning what had happened to his parents made Jiminy stop his objections to Geppetto's plan to save Pinocchio.

Archie tries to look at the world with hope, though he doesn’t alway quite succeed. He’s willing to see the good in anyone - for instance, he was the only one to approach Regina with genuine concern for her wellbeing, and even after she rebuffed him, he was there when she needed him. (2x05, The Doctor) Conversely, it is hard for him sometimes to see his worth in the eyes of other people. He was one of the ones leading the charge to cross the town line, to lose his memories of his time in the Enchanted Forest, as he couldn’t cope with the guilt once more.

Archie will always be ashamed of his crimes. The stealing and con artistry he can just about live with, they were a product of a misspent youth, the overly strong influence of his less than moral parents. The deaths of Geppetto’s parents, however was possibly the defining moment of Archie’s life, and he has hidden it well, with only Geppetto and Rumplestiltskin knowing the truth. People he respects and admires finding out about what he’d done, even by accident, would be a lot for him to bear. Even though it is only two class A crimes, to Archie those are the worst crimes possible.
